Match Report
(written by M. Fabien)
When the Legion reached King's Park this day of grace 22nd of August, it did not look like an easy task to go through. Old, under the sweltering heat, with very few hours of sleep for some of us, our army was facing the cohorts of DeA’s young waxed legs.
It did not last too long however before we showed the new generation what old bearded rugby was about. Much hairy Thomas G, Yannick and PA quickly scored three tries almost wondering wich Gods the Typhoons were under the protection of this week end. Not much to add for the rest of the 12min game except when Jensen put a stop to the Cocorico hegemony refusing to give Thomas G another try and went alone to challenge the little tiny 12 years old winger while Thomas was alone on his right for what the History will remember as the Leungie’s coup of Trafalgar. We finally won by 4-1.
The 2nd game started like the first one: Thomas G and Thomas S (to be confirmed) both scored an early try and we already saw ourselves on top of the Mount Olympus after what we conceded 2 tries our full back being on strike or having his tea time break. Full of strenght thanks to his family support, Tim finally scored a brillant try, ran around 3 opponents, dummy a pass and ended up with a side step that would have made jealous any winger. Just kidding he ran straight but we still drew 3-3.
Our 3rd game is better known under the name of "Thomas' barbecue time baby". Thomas D started the show and went through the line for the first try. Later on Thomas G scored not even once but twice and immediately begged Jensen to include the 10's performance in the statistics of the 2009-2010 season. D’Artagnan was out of Paris this week end and he scored 4 tries which left very few audience for the rest of us. Fortunately he is hairy, smells cold tobacco and is going back to France in few weeks. We won by 3-1. PA missed a tackle.
We finally made it to the finals against the young killer bees for what appeared to be our best game even though we lost! You know sometimes, logic... It was a very tight game with lots of runs and tackles. We finally got bitten once after a long running sequence from a wing to another.
The Elders will remember this day as a great rugby moment and a good omen for the rest of the season. Looking forward to starting the 15's and see you Tuesday!
